Jackie Day, happily vegan for more than 28 years, is the creator of the popular blog My Vegan Journal, where she enjoys sharing tips and inspiration for good health and compassion. Its accompanying Facebook page has more than 50,000 highly engaged fans and was recently featured on the Dr. Oz Show for being selected as the "2nd Healthiest Facebook Page in the Nation." Jackie is also the author of The Vegan Way: 21 Days to a Happier, Healthier Plant-Based Life (Macmillan, Fall 2016). Although Jackie currently spends most of her time writing and speaking, she is a former high school health teacher who is best known for helping lead the battle to rid public schools of soda and junk food. In recognition of Jackie's health advocacy work, she received a Teacher of the Year Award for the Los Angeles Unified School District (Dist. D), a Healthy School Hero Award, presented by the National Education Association and is recognized as a "Mover and Shaker" by the American Public Health Association. The California State PTA and CA State Senate have also honored Jackie, and her advocacy work has been featured in numerous books, documentaries and media outlets including CNN and TIME magazine. Jackie recently received her juris doctorate, and when she's not writing you'll likely find her salivating in grocery stores as she peruses the shelves for the newest, tastiest, vegan fare or outside enjoying the company of birds, bugs and furry friends.
