Frutarom Launches New Line for the Cosmetics Market

Frutarom Inc., USA, launches its natural cosmetic and personal care ingredients line for the cosmetics and nutricosmetics markets. The new line will be marketed as "Nature's Essence for Skin Care," emphasizing the company focus on natural extracts and active botanical ingredients.

“The cosmetic market is changing dramatically,” notes Laurent Leduc, VP of Frutarom’s Health Division.” While cosmetic companies penetrate the ‘beauty-from-within’ market, dietary supplement manufactures are expanding their product lines to include cosmetic applications. All are focused on applications with active natural ingredients. It is an important and strategic move for Frutarom to bring its expertise to the skin-care market.”

Frutarom researched ancient cultures and uncovered the essence of nature's actives to create a beauty line that includes ingredients such as: skin-protecting polysaccharides derived from the ocean; combinations of Chinese tradition and modern science; pure botanical powders as well as standardized natural actives. Frutarom focuses on natural botanical solutions for aging skin, sun care, anti-inflammation and oily skin.

“Frutarom will introduce the line with Alguard™, a bioactive skin shield refined from red microalgae. Alguard provides both immediate glamour and long-term skin protection,” says Leduc. “It is one of the most advanced beauty ingredients existing in the cosmetic market today and provides significant anti aging and skin-protection benefits for a growing youth-concerned, health-conscious demographic.”

Research revealed a wealth of biological activities in red microalgae, demonstrating Alguard‘s capacity as an active shield. These properties can be exploited for use in protecting the skin, thanks to Frutarom's all-natural physical extraction process. It is skin-friendly as well as environmentally friendly. As a result, Alguard can help protect skin against irritants and oxidative damage.

“Alguard can provide up to 20 percent reduction in skin roughness immediately after application, and a 20-percent reduction in the length and depth of fine lines,” reports Anat Stern, Product Manager for Frutarom. “It provides gloss to the skin immediately after application, according to subject evaluations.”

Alguard can be used in anti-aging, sun-care, anti-inflammatory, anti-irritant, lip-care and “lifting” formulations. It doesn’t change the odor or the color of the final product and and its hydorgel properties are not affected over wide range of pH and temperatures.
