Indoor pools and kids' respiratory problems

Taking your tot to the indoor swimming pool? You may want to wait until she or he is older than 6 months, suggests a new study reported in The Daily Green. Children under 6 months, whose mothers had a history of allergies or asthma, had an increased risk of wheezing after exposure to indoor pool fumes. As reported in this Grist story, researchers have long known of other indoor pool–related health risks—and not just for kids—including exposure to toxic byproducts such as dioxin.
