The Naked Brand: Saving the planet by telling the truth

“In a world where nothing can be hidden, you’d better have nothing to hide.” Cargill CEO Greg Page made this statement in April during Fortune magazine’s Brainstorm Green conference. This idea that companies must become more transparent with their customers or risk increasingly ugly consequences was a key focus of NEXT: The Natural Products Industry Forecast 2013, and now it’s the central theme of a new documentary opening today called The Naked Brand.

Created by Jeff Rosenblum, a founding partner of Questus, the film explores how corporations can help save the planet by telling the truth in their advertising and working harder to create products that actually solve the world’s problems rather than exacerbate them. The Naked Brand features voices that have long been touting the importance of corporate transparency, including ad legend Alex Bogusky and Patagonia Founder Yvon Chouinard. But we also hear from a diverse cast of others, such as NBA All-Star Shaquille O’Neal and Bonin Bough, PepsiCo’s former senior global director of digital and social media.
