Cheap vitamins may fight dementia

An inexpensive vitamin cocktail may fend off Alzheimer's disease, according to a new British study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

In a time when a quarter buys you not much else, a cocktail of vitamins worth about that amount could buy you, literally, piece of mind in your golden years. A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences suggests that vitamins B6 and B12 combined with folic acid slowed atrophy of gray matter in brain areas affected by Alzheimer's disease.
