Gemini Pharmaceuticals, a contract manufacturer of dietary supplements and OTC pharmaceuticals, is the first contract manufacturer to gain certification under the new RIBUS® Certified Contract Manufacturer Program. Gemini, over the course of two years, demonstrated the expertise needed to properly utilize RIBUS rice-based alternatives to synthetic excipients, Nu-FLOW® and Nu-RICE®, in dietary supplement formulas. This announcement was made during a special meeting held at the SupplySide West Global Conference and Expo Oct. 8 to 9 in Las Vegas.
The RIBUS rice based materials comply with the organic regulatory changes to remove silicon dioxide by the November 2014 deadline. Additionally, Nu-FLOW and Nu-RICE are used as a replacements for stearates, i.e. Mg stearate, vegetable stearate, stearic acid, etc., in the supplement manufacturing process.
Michael Finamore, CEO of Gemini Pharmaceuticals Inc., states, “We are extremely pleased to be recognized by RIBUS as their first Certified Contract Manufacturer. Our familiarity with the RIBUS family of ingredients offers Gemini the unique opportunity to design and manufacture nutritional products for our accounts by eliminating traditional inactive ingredients without sacrificing the quality or efficacy of the formulations.”
“By achieving their Certification, Gemini has demonstrated their ability to stay on top of ingredient trends, positioning themselves as being able to offer clients a demonstrated knowledge and experience in commercially producing tablets and capsules using Nu-FLOW and Nu-RICE,” according to Steve Peirce, president of RIBUS.
