A series of ever-more-worrying reports over the consequences of the climate crisis make the situation seem almost hopeless. Scientists believe we are in the midst of the sixth mass extinction event since life began on Earth. A major international report released earlier this year warned of “a world of worsening food shortages and wildfires, and a mass die-off of coral reefs as soon as 2040” when the world warms by as much as 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit. And one of the latest reports claims that human civilization as we know it will collapse by 2050 if there is no action on climate change.
