Healthy Handfuls, a manufacturer of organic snack-boxes and organic snack-pouches, has been acquired by the natural and organic food company Ian’s. The financial terms of the agreement were not immediately disclosed.
Healthy Handfuls products do not contain hydrogenated oils, artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. The healthy snack products fit in with Ian’s all natural and organic product line. COO and General Manager for Ian’s, Terrence Dalton, commented on the acquisition, "Ian's is thrilled to extend our successful product line with the acquisition of Healthy Handfuls. The addition of Healthy Handfuls to the Ian's brand will allow Ian's to offer busy parents more organic and nutritious snack options that their kids will love."
Ian’s is based out of Lawrence, Massachusetts, while Healthy Handfuls has been based out of Chicago, Illinois since 2002. It was not known at press time whether Ian’s will now house the Healthy Handfuls production line or if Healthy Handfuls will maintain their facilities. Healthy Handfuls was first conceived by two sisters who wanted to develop healthier snacks for their children. Debbie Reynolds and Gwen Solberg, the co-founders of Healthy Handfuls, commented on the transaction, "Healthy Handfuls has grown to be a convenient snack that fits in perfectly with kids' active schedules, and we're excited it will continue to do so with Ian's."
