Tesco to Launch Fresh & Easy in the U.S.

Tesco’s global model is not one-size-fits-all but uses local buying teams to source for customers in the region.

The retail marketplace in the U.S. will soon have a major new player. Tesco, the British-based retail giant, has announced plans to open a chain of stores in the U.S. under the name Fresh & Easy neighborhood markets. Tesco has committed a $65-million investment in distribution and infrastructure to open 300 American stores by 2010—part of a $2-billion investment to be made over the next five years.
