Let the pumpkin-flavored craze begin

It's time to get your PSL on (that's Pumpkin Spice Latte, for the uninitiated). New sales data from Nielsen shows consumers are crazed for pumpkin-flavored products.

Turning leaves and warm sweaters are the harbingers of fall—and with the season comes the flurry of all things pumpkin flavored. This craze goes beyond the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte (which, much to the delight of social media, returned to retail stores a few days ago).

A new infographic from Nielsen depicts the sales growth in products including pie filling, coffee, yogurt, milk, desserts and more. Heck, pumpkin flavored dog food fetched more than $12 million in 2014. Yes, dog food.

"Pumpkin products accounted for $361 million in sales in the last year alone, having grown 79 percent since 2011," Nielsen reports. But curiously, while both mainstream and natural consumers are gaga over this gourd, actual fresh pumpkin sales have been declining over the past few years.

Here, learn which pumpkin-y products gleaned the most sales in 2014.
