Indian Manufacturer Seeks Global Expansion of its Ayurvedic Brands

Himalaya markets to practitioners where its products are regulated as drugs; expands retail strategy at home in India.

Building on a leading position in the Indian Ayurvedic medicine category, 77-year-old Himalaya Healthcare is pushing aggressively into markets in Asia, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Africa, according to President and CEO Nabeel Manal. “Our largest markets apart from India are Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai and South Africa,” said Manal. “We market throughout the Middle East and we’re now starting to focus on Romania and Russia.”
