Kingsport, TN.,(March 5, 2008)---Eastman Chemical Company today announced the audit results for their dietary supplement, Eastman NuTriene™ Tocotrienols, by the American Institute of Bakers (AIB). NuTriene, a mixture of naturally occurring tocotrienols and tocopherols extracted and concentrated from rice bran oil, has received the audit score of “superior,” the highest rating awarded by the AIB.
NuTriene is composed of eight different compounds – four tocopherols and four tocotrienols – found in the vitamin E family. Many food sources contain all eight compounds, however many vitamin E supplements currently on the market contain only d-alpha-tocopherol. Scientific studies are discovering that the combined potential of tocopherols and tocotrienols contribute to our overall well-being. NuTriene offers powerful antioxidants with strong potential for dietary health benefits. NuTriene is useful in various dietary supplement formulations and is sold in products developed by major vitamin brands and retailers globally.
The AIB provides on-site third party auditing services which evaluate the safety and quality of production practices and facilities. The NuTriene audit rating was based on several factors, including; company policies, operations, and the physical condition of grounds, buildings, and production and storage areas.
“We are very proud to receive this prestigious rating from the AIB, an internationally recognized resource in the food safety industry,” says Tammy Nave, formulation products business manager, Eastman. “This rating demonstrates our strong, long-standing commitment to the quality and safety of Eastman’s products.”
