Carob derivative addresses growing blood glucose control market
IRVINE, CA – Cyvex Nutrition has introduced Chirositol™, D-Chiro-Inositol for use in dietary supplements to address the growing concern among both Baby Boomers and Generation X-ers of achieving and maintaining healthy blood glucose levels.
Chirositol is extracted without the use of solvents from carob juice (Ceratonia siliqua). It contains greater than 95% D-chiro-inositol (DCI), a member of a family of naturally occurring inositols, similar in structure to glucose. DCI is an important secondary messenger in insulin signal transduction; it mimics insulin activity, thereby enabling it to control blood glucose (U.S. Patent #5,428,066). D-chiro-inositol is nearly two times as effective when compared to D-pinitol, a methylated D-chiro-inositol in controlling blood sugar.
“The supplement market and consumers are ripe for Chirositol, as it is an effective tool in a healthy lifestyle aimed at lowering risk of diabetes onset,” says Matt Phillips, President and Chief Operations Officer for Cyvex Nutrition.
