Enzymedica, Inc., a leading manufacturer of enzyme end products will sponsor a host of activities to promote autism awareness at the 2009 Natural Products Expo West Tradeshow, held March 5th - 8th at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Enzymedica’s work to promote autism awareness stems from their recent foundation of the Autism Hope Alliance and their sponsorship of the 2009 Autism Grass Roots Tour.
A seminar and book signing will feature Raun K. Kaufman and Kristin Selby Gonzalez. The seminar will be held on Friday March 6th, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in room 207D.
The seminar will present successful out of the box techniques for autism, including educational intervention, dietary modification, and enzyme therapy, plus tips on how to speak with parents of autistic children. Seminar attendees will be eligible for a free gift.
Mr. Kaufman’s book signing will be held Friday March 6th at 2:30pm in the Enzymedica booth, #1784. Both Raun and Kristin will be available for interviews and photo opportunities at the Enzymedica booth throughout the weekend of the show.
Raun is the CEO of the Autism Treatment Center of America™, a speaker, writer, and teacher. As a child, Mr. Kaufman was diagnosed with severe autism and recommended for lifelong institutionalization. Instead, his parents developed The Son-Rise Program®, which enabled their son to completely recover from his autism. Now an international speaker and Ivy League graduate with a degree in Biomedical Ethics, Mr. Kaufman bears no traces of his former condition. Raun is also the subject of a book and movie.
Kristin Selby Gonzalez is Enzymedica’s Director of Autism Education and the mother of a son with autism. Kristin has been working with her son Jaxson for over three years and has seen him progress from very withdrawn with no language, to a playful and interactive boy who now speaks in five-word sentences. Ms. Gonzalez is trained in both educational and biomedical interventions for autism, including enzyme therapy, dietary intervention, sensory integration and play therapy.
Ms. Gonzalez shares, “Autistic children have specific requirements and if retailers don’t understand the link between food, digestion, and autism they could unintentionally lead parents down the wrong road. Our presentation will offer a roadmap for the stores and outline positive steps that will benefit these families.”
Natural products retailers carry many products that can improve the quality of life for families dealing with autism, including gluten-free foods, omega-3 fish oils, and enzymes.
