CHICAGO -- May, 7, 2008 – Hearts&Minds LLC, a new food company dedicated to making the foods that you love to eat better for you and with great taste, today announced that it has introduced a new product: Hearts&Minds Peanut Butter with Olive Oil and Omega-3 (EPA/DHA). This natural peanut butter is the first peanut butter made with the consumers’ heart in mind, and is the first to use olive oil and omega-3(EPA/DHA).
Hearts&Minds peanut butter helps consumers win the battle between eating what they like and what is good for them. Some of the key differences between Hearts&Minds peanut butter and other products are:
Heart-healthy olive oil replaces 40 percent of the peanut oil
100mg per serving of omega-3 (EPA/DHA), great for brain, eye and heart health
More roasted peanut flavor
The patent pending peanut butter formulation with olive oil and omega-3 (EPA/DHA) allows Hearts&Minds peanut butter to be the first peanut butter with a health claim: “Limited and inconclusive scientific evidence suggests that eating about two tablespoons of olive oil daily may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease due to the monounsaturated fat in olive oil. To achieve this possible benefit, olive oil is to replace a similar amount of saturated fat and not increase the total number of calories you eat in a day. One serving of this product contains six grams of olive oil.”
“It is difficult for people to change their diets because they want to eat the things they like. We also know that even though it was possible to make food products healthier, either they were too expensive for the large consumer product companies or there were sacrifices in taste,” said Robert Gonzalez, President Hearts&Minds. “By focusing on making a great tasting peanut butter that has heart healthy olive oil and omega-3 (EPA/DHA), we have a great product that will be successful in the natural and organic market which is a growing and profitable segment.”
Hearts&Minds Peanut Butter is available in crunchy and creamy types and the product is already in stores in California, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri and Wyoming.
Hearts&Minds expects to significantly increase its distribution through its recent agreement with SourceOne Sales and Marketing, a national syndicate of food brokers, to market Hearts&Minds Peanut Butter.
Hearts&Minds was founded by a trio of experienced entrepreneurs from the food and nutrition industry: President Bob Gonzalez, a business executive with more than 20 years in food, nutrition, biotechnology and food ingredients at Monsanto, Henkel, Bunge, and NewNeural. Gonzalez is a chemical engineer and University of Chicago MBA.
