UNPA Introduces New Member, Alkemists Pharmaceuticals Inc.

(SALT LAKE CITY, January 30, 2007) The United Natural Products Alliance is pleased to announce the introduction of Alkemists Pharmaceuticals. UNPA is made up of 34 members committed to the excellence and advancement of the global dietary industry. Loren Israelsen, Executive Director of UNPA, stated, “Alkemists Pharmaceuticals is a welcome addition to our membership, as they represent an organization that combines high quality natural product analysis and a vast knowledge of botanicals, with a commitment to excellence.”

On January 11, 2007, UNPA sponsored a major seminar focusing on the newly passed Adverse Event Reporting (AER) legislation. This law sends a message to consumers and regulators that leading dietary supplement companies are committed to proper regulation and consumer safety. Alkemists Pharmaceuticals, as an independent contract laboratory, is an ambassador to the concept of self regulation and the natural choice for partners in quality control.

“We are honored to be a member of such a prestigious organization,” said Dr. Sidney Sudberg, Alkemists Pharmaceuticals CEO and Director. “Alkemists Pharmaceuticals is dedicated to the systematic identification and characterization of natural products to ensure the functional food and dietary supplement markets and ultimately the consumer, that the identity, purity, quality, strength, and composition of products that enter the marketplace are safe and effective. We are committed to the quality of the Natural Products Industry and exist to help maintain its reputation and sustain its longevity.”

About Alkemists Pharmaceuticals
Alkemists Pharmaceuticals, www.alkemist.com, has grown over the past decade to focus on self regulation and has emerged over the last 5 years as the natural choice for 3rd party analysis & partners in quality control. Alkemists Pharmaceuticals was established in 1997 after the natural products industry was faced with the responsibility for the serious health risk created by the adulteration of Plantain with Grecian Foxglove (Digitalis lanata). With over 750 species of botanicals analyzed and an internal herbarium containing 6000 specimens enabling multiple species cross referencing, Alkemists has positioned itself as the ‘go to’ lab for 3rd party natural product analysis. New in 2007 is the ‘analytical triad’, for increased confidence in your product, comprised of HPLC Qualitative &/or Quantitative analysis, HPTLC Fingerprint and marker identity analysis and Botanical Macro/Microscopy for ID and Adulteration detection.
