Best supplements for men's health

Coenzyme Q10

This powerful antioxidant—which aids in the production of ATP, the body’s energy molecule—supports male fertility and is especially beneficial for cardiovascular health. Because statin drugs, which help manage cholesterol, lower the body’s production of co-Q10, supplementation is recommended for men taking such drugs. Dose: 50–200 mg per day of ubiquinone.

Fish oil

Its healthy omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA, have been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease. Fish oil also is helpful for a range of inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and may help with cognitive function, eye health, and depression, as well. Dose: two capsules of 300 mg EPA and 200 mg DHA twice per day.

Vitamin D

Many people are deficient in this important vitamin, which helps support bone health, improve immune function, and protect against various types of cancer. Dose: 2,000 IU per day (or greater) to reach optimum levels.

Zinc

More than 300 enzymes, involved in everything from wound repair and immune-system support to male fertility and prostate health, rely on zinc to function properly. Studies also indicate that zinc reduces the duration and severity of the common cold. Dose: Up to 50 mg per day.
