Spotlight on Boirons remedies for women-specific ailments

In France, Boiron’s trademark blue vials line shelves of pharmacies on every street corner. The French company, which began in 1932 and established a U.S. presence in 1986, now produces more than 800 homeopathic medicines. In addition to hundreds of classical single remedies, Boiron also makes blends that are increasingly popular in the consumer market. These condition-specific multi-remedy blends can eliminate the trial and error sometimes associated with single formulas.

Take the symptoms of a common cold, for example. “As a consumer, it’s not efficient or economical for you to walk into a health food store and buy six or seven different singles to treat all those symptoms,” says Alissa Gould, public relations manager at Boiron USA. As a result, Boiron has created blends of ingredients that target multiple symptoms, making the sometimes confusing world of homeopathy a little less daunting. “The easiest thing to introduce the consumer to is the specialty product,” Gould says.

One way Boiron is making single remedies more consumer-friendly is through its care kits. Each portable kit contains three single formulas with symptom descriptions for an ailment or condition. “All of our care kits were specifically designed to move consumers into the category of single medicines,” Gould says. As consumers test various remedies, they can see what works for them and what doesn’t. “We want them to have a good experience with that and get comfortable with using the singles.”

Black cohosh, long used to relieve cramps, combines with magnesium phosphate to relax uterine muscles and colocynth to ease pain.

Hot Flashes Care Kit
Three single remedies come in this kit: Belladonna, which relieves sudden flushes of heat and throbbing; glonoinum to relieve irritability and muddled thinking; and lachesis to relieve feelings of pressure that accompany hot flashes.
