Herb labels reviewed
The Tennessee delegation to the annual American Medical Association meeting introduced a resolution that the AMA ?strongly encourage? the use of the word herbal on all herbal products, ?strongly discourage? the packaging and advertising of herbal products in such a way as to resemble those for prescription drugs and ?to work with the appropriate agencies? to strengthen regulations for herbal supplements.

New brain booster
A study presented at the Alzheimer?s Association International Conference on the Prevention of Dementia found that a Chinese herbal extract called GETO—made from ginseng, epimedium herb, thin leaf milkwort root and two unnamed herbs—was effective in the treatment of mild cognitive impairment.
