A new study published in the April 2013 issue of the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition has found that eight weeks of supplementation with a multi-ingredient weight loss supplement containing Advantra Z enhances body composition, reduces hip and waist girth, and increases energy levels in overweight men and women.
The randomized, placebo-controlled, parallel-group, double-blind study—headed by Hector L. Lopez Jr., MD, CSCS, FAAPMR, a board-certified specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation—was designed to determine the safety and efficacy of a multi-ingredient supplement (Prograde Metabolism™), which contains Advantra Z, when administered in conjunction with a weight loss program. Seventy obese but otherwise healthy subjects underwent eight weeks of daily supplementation, calorie-restricted diet, and exercise training. Subjects were tested for changes in body composition, serum appetite- and metabolism-regulating hormones, and markers of health including heart rate and blood pressure.
Significant beneficial changes were observed in body composition—body weight, fat mass, lean mass, waist and hip measurements—as well as energy levels and food cravings. The weight loss supplement was well tolerated in all subjects. No changes in systemic hemodynamics, clinical blood chemistries, adverse events, or dietary intake were noted.
