BioTurmin-WD shows better bioavailability

Olive Lifesciences' water dispersible curcuminoids demonstrate better bioavailability compared to regular curcuminoids 95%.

Olive Lifesciences is pleased to announce the publication of BioTurmin-WD (water dispersible curcuminoids from Curcuma longa) in Journal of Food Research (published by the Canadian Center of Science and Education. BioTurmin-WD demonstrated better bioavailability compared to regular curcuminoids 95%.

“The study was carried out using human Caco-2 cell monolayer, the permeability efficacy of BioTurmin-WD was evaluated and compared with that of 95% curcuminoids,” said Dr. Shiv, Ph.D., one of the study’s authors and vice president of research at Olive Lifesciences. “Caco-2 model predicts the in vivo absorption of substance across the gut wall by measuring the rate of transport of a compound across the Caco-2 cell line. Permeable curcuminoids across the cell monolayer was analysed through reverse phase high pressure liquid chromatography.  The apparent permeability coefficient of BioTurmin-WD was 7.03 fold higher than 95% curcuminoids, indicating its higher absorption capacity (bioavailability) compared to 95% curcuminoids

“The complete water dispersion ability of BioTurmin-WD offers food and beverage manufacturers an ingredient of choice for applications such as dry drink mixes, ready-to-drink products, nutritional bars and other beverages, where benefits of curcuma can be achieved at a lower dosage,” said Mr. Anzar, MD, of Olive Lifesciences.
