GOED appoints new board members
The Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega 3 (GOED) has appointed Philip C Fass as chairman for its 2009 fiscal year. Fass, of Martek Biosciences, brings more than 30 years of experience in the industry. GOED membership also elected David Shannon (Croda) as vice chairman, Jan Haakonsen (Denomega) as treasurer, and Baldur Hjaltason (EPAX) as secretary; Robert Orr remains an officer in the Past Chair position. Other board members include Olav Sandnes (Marine Nutriceuticals), Amanda Ruess (DSM), Harvey Kamil (NBTY), and Maha Misbah (Unilever). GOED Omega-3 is an international, not-for-profit trade association formed in 2006.

COO tapped at Baywood
Eric Skae, president of Baywood International's New Leaf Tea division, has been appointed to the post of president and chief operating officer. Skae founded Skae Beverage International; he spent the past 17 years in the beverage industry working in senior-level sales, marketing and distribution roles helping grow such brands as Naked Juice, Fresh Samantha, Hansens and Arizona Iced Tea. Baywood develops, markets and sells nutraceutical and nutritionally enhanced products and new-age beverages under its own brands.
VP named at PureCircle USA
PureCircle, a leading supplier of high-purity Reb-A, has named a former Tate & Lyle sales and marketing vice president, Jordi Ferre, to be vice president and general manager of PureCircle USA. Ferre has an MBA from ESADE Business School in Barcelona, Spain, and has more than 20 years' experience in the food and beverage industry. At Tate & Lyle, he was vice president of sales and marketing for the group's Splenda Sucra-lose division.

Griffith selects US chief
Griffith Laboratories has promoted Jennifer Convery to the position of US president. Over the past 15 years, Convery has served as general manager and held several sales leadership positions. In her new role, she will lead the overall US business and join the Worldwide Management Team. She is a member of WFF, AMI and IFMA.
