New published study backs SOD B Extramel

Bionov's melon-based ingredient represents an efficient well-being solution in the growing segment of stress and cognition.

A new clinical study has been published in the journal Nutrients. This study confirms and strengthens the quick and lasting efficiency of SOD B Extramel® in the improvement of daily performances. Main results reported a significant reduction of stress and physical fatigue, as well as an improvement of cognitive performances and overall life quality. In a context in which people are more and more worried regarding their well-being, this second major clinical study represents an efficient communication and business booster in the growing segment of stress and cognition.

Major issue for urban and active population
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 450 million people, i.e., 30 percent of the global population, suffer from mental issues. SOD B Extramel represents an efficient well-being solution in the growing segment of stress and cognition. Already awarded in 2008 as the European Anti-stress Promising Ingredient of the Year Award, SOD B Extramel is now strongly supported by two major clinical studies.

Benoit Lemaire, business and marketing director at Bionov, highlights “the strong differentiation brought by this active solution as an oral active ingredient supported by two clinical studies on its efficiency against stress and its related parameters.” This strong scientific support “represents a truly opportunity of communication,” he adds.

Confirmed efficacy
The efficiency of SOD B Extramel has been confirmed in a new double-blind, placebo-controlled trial published in the journal Nutrients, “recognized as a very relevant journal by its high impact factor (2.072),” underlines Dominique Lacan, research and development director at Bionov. This second clinical study, performed on 61 people, reports a significant reduction of stress (-8.8 percent) and physical fatigue (-9.4 percent), as well as an improvement of cognitive performances (+13.9 percent) after three months of oral supplementation at only 10mg/day, i.e., 140 IU SOD/day.

Stress: an oxidative issue
Thanks to its high activity of bioactive SuperOxide Dismutase (SOD), SOD B Extramel fights one of the major consequences of stress and mental problems: oxidative stress. It is well scientifically established that a chronic stress, as well as decreased cognitive performances and physical fatigue are associated with an overproduction of reactive oxygen species.
