Best Cooking Pulses achieves grade A in BRC GFSI certification

Best Cooking Pulses Inc. earned grade A at its Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, pulse flour and fiber mill following an audit for food safety standards as set by the British Retail Consortium. The BRC standard is certified by the Global Food Safety Initiative.

Under the GFSI scheme, food producers and manufacturers are benchmarked against food safety requirements by independent licensed auditors. An 'A' grade is the highest possible on an announced audit. The survey includes a comprehensive inspection of the facility's food safety product program, HACCP program and management systems.

"The entire team at BCP has done a superb job devising and implementing a rigorous food safety program addressing the real concerns of our customers. This achievement underlines our company's core commitment to producing healthy foods for healthy diets and a sustainable world," said Trudy Heal, company president.

This certification positions Best Cooking Pulses Inc. to meet the requirements of the Food and Drug Administration Food Safety Modernization Act.
