LA MIRADA, Calif., Jul 02, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The E.T. Horn Company, a leading distributor, supplier, marketer, and manufacturer of specialty chemicals and food ingredients, today announced that it has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Kaneka Nutrients, LP to represent its line of products throughout the western United States. Under the terms of the agreement, E.T. Horn will market and distribute the entire Kaneka line of ingredients through its FoodTech, Nutraceuticals, and Personal Care product groups.
Kaneka's product offerings include its proprietary Kaneka-brand CoQ10 which is used worldwide in dietary supplements, health and beauty aid creams/lotions, and oral care products. The company is recognized as the world's largest manufacturer of Q10 and boasts the only brand that is used for international clinical study.
"We conducted a thorough search for a new partner to expand our market share in the United States. When we were introduced to E.T. Horn and learned of their track record and reputation, it was a perfect fit," said Tom Schrier, Kaneka USA Sales Manager. "They have a vibrant technical sales force with a broad reach, and have cultivated numerous customer relationships. They're also accustomed to working with non-commodity, specialty ingredients, which truly requires sales technicians with up to date scientific backgrounds."
In 2006, the U.S. retail marketplace for all Q10-related products was over $400 million, and has experienced double digit growth in each of the past 5 years.
"Q10 has been a successful product for years in the dietary supplement market," said Kevin Salerno, vice president of E.T. Horn's Nutraceuticals Group. "And yet, we're determined to expand Kaneka Q10's reach within our company's other product categories because the possibilities are endless."
Roger Thomas and Lisa Alley-Zarkades, respective vice presidents of E.T. Horn's Personal Care and FoodTech Groups recognize the potential within their customer bases. "Now that we're carrying Kaneka's proven product line, we can continue to provide our functional food partners with innovative, quality products, and the hands-on service they're accustomed to," Alley-Zarkades said. Thomas concurred. "Our personal care products manufacturers are excited to learn of the myriad benefits Kaneka's Q10 brings to their product formulations," he concluded.
