Morinaga Launches Tablet Supplement for People with High Blood Pressure, “Umi kara no Okurimono Sardine Peptide”

Morinaga & Co., Ltd. will launch “Umi kara no Okurimono (Gifts from the Sea) Sardine Peptide” (JPY 5,513/30 packets) via mail order on 7 October 2008. The product, released under the “Tenshi no Kenkou” brand, is a FOSHU-approved tablet supplement for countering metabolic syndrome and is targeted at middle-aged and elderly people with high blood pressure. This is the second such FOSHU-approved metabolic-syndrome-countering product to be released by the company, following the mail order “Seisho Sabo (Energy Teahouse)” tea beverage, which reduces rising triglyceride levels.
High blood pressure is caused by converting enzymes that contract the body’s blood vessels. This can slowly be reduced by continuously taking the current product, as the sardine peptide ingredient contained works to impede these converting enzymes. This product will be launched via mail order only and is aimed at people with high blood pressure between 40 and 60 years of age.
