Novel triples ingredient manufacturing

This June, Novel Ingredient Services will open a second manufacturing facility that triples the company’s blending capabilities and more than doubles granulation, roller compaction and high-shear granulation capacity. The new 40,000-sqaure-foot facility, located in a former pharmaceutical factory in East Hanover, N.J., has been ISO 9001:2008 certified and registered to the NSF International Dietary Supplement Ingredient Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) program.

"We are committed to investing in value-added ingredient manufacturing capabilities and technology," said Bob Green, Novel chairman. "The new facility—coupled with Novel's multiple quality accreditations and in-house technical expertise—will enable manufacturers to reduce manufacturing costs while optimizing productivity and enhancing the quality of their products."

Well-established as a granulation (wet and dry) and premix specialist, Novel's state-of-the-art plant includes equipment that further advances the company's capabilities. The micro-pulverizer provides the ultrafine milled raw materials required for powdered drink mixes and softgels. And, the fluid bed granulator yields the ultimate in uniform particle size, using less heat and producing granulations that are ideal for tableting. Other machinery includes two 100-cubic-foot V-blenders, two 4x10 roller compacters, 60‑cubic-foot blender, 30‑cubic-foot blender, three dual-chamber drying ovens, and two high-shear mixers.
