Nutrition Capital Network news: J&J Snack Foods Corp. acquires gourmet pretzels

J&J Snack Foods Corp. (Pennsauken, N.J.) has acquired the assets of Kim & Scott's Gourmet Pretzels (Chicago, Ill.), which makes hand-made pretzels using natural, premium, and gluten-free ingredients. Co-founder Scott Holstein will continue to work for the company.

The gourmet pretzels are carried in club stores, mainstream supermarkets and the natural retail channel, including Sprouts and Whole Foods. Kim & Scott's had revenues of $9.7 million in 2010, according to the 2011 Inc. 500 ranking.  J&J Snack Foods, a publicly traded company serving both retail and food service channels, reported sales for fiscal year ended September 24, 2011 of $744.1 million, up 7%.
