Organic Alliance, Inc., a new contract in the global supply of certified organic products, today announced that it has launched its produce business with a new line of organic avocados. OAI has completed the acquisition of the AvocadoMan brand from American Eagle Transportation Co. and began shipments January 13, 2009. This new line of avocados delivers outstanding flavor and shelf life, is USDA certified organic, and is available immediately. Like all Organic Alliance products, the line of avocados announced today comes from farms that have been certified under the Organic Alliance Certified Origin(TM) program, and are fully traceable back to the farm and harvest.
The Organic Alliance Certified Origin program combines in-person inspection and certification by Organic Alliance food technologists, with on-demand traceability, assuring buyers that Organic Alliance products meet or exceed all organic growing and production standards. Organic Alliance has selected HarvestMark(R), the food traceability solution from YottaMark, to provide food buyers and consumers direct, on-demand access to information about its products. The traceability solution provides grower profiles, details of the most recent organic certification, and a description of the organic practices that set Organic Alliance food apart from other brands.
Parker Booth, a 30-year food industry veteran, has recently joined Organic Alliance as president. "The term organic has been overused in the food industry to the point that consumers and food buyers are unsure of the characteristics associated with this important term," said Booth. "Our Certified Origin program sets all of our products apart from other brands. Under this program, our team of leading food technologists certifies and continually re-qualifies our supply to ensure that organic growing and production standards are met. And we share this information with buyers and consumers through our traceability program, so that every day our customers have confidence in the organic character of our products."
The HarvestMark solution provides on-demand traceability for all Organic Alliance products. Fully compatible with GS1 standards and the Produce Traceability Initiative, HarvestMark provides a robust platform to underpin the traceability components of the Organic Alliance Certified Origin program. Certification and harvest data is captured in the field. HarvestMark traceability codes found on Organic Alliance packaging can be entered at HarvestMark.com to instantly retrieve harvest data, country of origin, organic certification, and grower profiles.
"We are extremely pleased to launch our produce line, and are thrilled to have such an experienced group of growers to represent in the organic and conventional produce category," said Booth. "We are continuing to establish further strategic supply chains, linking exceptional growers of certified organic food products to our customer base throughout the world."
Organic Alliance offerings range from organic produce, organic ingredients for manufacturers, organic grass fed beef, and organic poultry, all sourced from leading suppliers around the world.
