Hecht is the Wallin Professor of Cancer Prevention and the American Cancer Society Research Professor at the University of Minnesota, and was honored for more than three decades of research.

Amha Belay, Ph.D., senior vice president and scientific director for Irvine, Calif.-based spirulina supplier Earthrise Nutritionals, presented a lead paper on production, quality assurance and application of spirulina at the 6th Asia-Pacific Conference on Algal Biotechnology in Manila, Philippines in the fall of 2006. Belay shared more than 30 years' experience on the use of algae as a food source with more than 150 scientists who participated in the conference.

The American Egg Board, based in Park Ridge, Ill., confirmed the executive committee's selection of Joanne Ivy as its senior vice president, succeeding Louis Raffel as president and chief operating officer upon his retirement at the end of 2006. Ivy has served on the AEB staff for 20 years and was previously executive director of the North Carolina Egg Association.
Los Angeles-based nutrition company Herbalife appointed Young Hee Chung as general manager of operations in Korea. She is the first female to serve in this capacity in Korea, and was hired when Herbalife began in Korea in 1996. Chung has served as senior manager of distributor relations and sales, and senior manager for sales and marketing.
