Tampa Bay Analytical Research, Inc. Announces Opening

Contract analytical laboratory Tampa Bay Analytical Research, Inc.(TBAR) announces the official opening of its facilities offering a suite of analytical services including analytical method development, validation, and contract analysis services to the dietary supplement community, including raw material suppliers as well as finished product manufacturers and government agencies.

TBAR President and Technical Director Mark Roman is a long-standing contributor to AOAC International, USP and INA method development and his leadership and expertise in this area is now available to TBAR clients, “Providing accurate, reliable results for your product analysis is our priority,” stated TBAR president and technical director Dr. Mark Roman. “When we test your product, we will verify that the test method works on your product before we issue results. Inaccurate or meaningless results are worse than no results at all.” With the passing of the dietary supplement GMPs this past summer, manufacturers are now be required to prove the identity, purity, and strength of their ingredients and finished products, and the FDA will require the use of scientifically valid methods. “Validating your analytical test method is crucial in showing that the method is fit for purpose,” added Dr. Roman. “As a leader in analytical method validation for botanicals and dietary supplement products, TBAR uses some of the most rigorous validation protocols in the industry to give you the highest level of confidence in your results.”

TBAR’s capabilities include HPLC with UV, PDA, fluorescence, and evaporative light scattering detection, as well as GC with flame ionization detection, and possesses a DEA Schedule IV license for handling controlled substances and a blank purchase agreement (BPA) with NIH.

Many of the analytical methods developed by Dr. Roman have been adopted by AOAC International, USP, INA and other analytical laboratories. Dr. Roman authored and was instructor of the AOAC course on single laboratory validation of chemical test methods, and has served on the NIH NCCAM Product Quality Working Group. He has been interviewed and quoted many times in trade journal articles on analytical testing and method validation. As the AOAC Dietary Supplement Subject Matter Expert, he is responsible for helping develop and review single laboratory validation and collaborative study protocols and reports. He is author or co-author on several published validation manuscripts, including ephedrine alkaloids (which is now the AOAC official method of analysis), biogenic amines in Citrus aurantium, chondroitin sulfate, and coenzyme Q10.
