North Face founder pays it forward

Esprit and North Face founder and Expo East Keynote Speaker Douglas Tompkins has gone from corporate culture to eco-activism. Here's what he knows about bringing those two worlds together.

When Esprit and The North Face founder Douglas Tompkins found himself disenchanted with consumer culture, he left his businesses behind to focus on eco-activism in South America. Now, he spends his time “paying rent” back to the world he lives in. Tompkins is the Natural Products Expo East keynote speaker, presenting from 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, in rooms 308/309.
