To Learn More About Protein and Weight Loss
- Seafood Watch: The Monterey Bay Aquarium’s program for sustainable fisheries has a Web site at www.mbayaq.org/cr/seafoodwatch.asp. Download fact sheets and wallet-sized “Seafood Selector” cards that tell which species are good choices and which are troublesome. The Aquarium’s goal is to protect the health of the world’s oceans and repopulate dangerously overfished species, while respecting the livelihood of the folks who catch, process and sell seafood.
- America on the Move: After a successful pilot program in Colorado, America on the Move (www.americaonthemove.org) launched nationwide last year to get people to take control of their health. The goal: Take 2,000 more steps a day or eat 100 fewer calories, which organizers say is all a typical adult needs to control weight.
- Natural Meat: The Organic Trade Association offers a printable fact sheet about organic beef standards at www.ota.com/organic/foodsafety/OrganicBeef.html. Do a Web search on “natural meat” or contact your state agriculture commission to find natural and organic meat suppliers serving your area.
