Election 2004: Make Your Vote Count for the New Product Awards
Retailers scouting the Expo East floor for the top new products should stop by the New Product Showcase Awards exhibit to check out 30 finalists deemed best in show and vote for their favorites. New Hope Natural Media?s second annual New Product Showcase Awards will feature a new category for environmentally friendly products and an expert panel of judges.
On Friday, Oct. 15, 50 preselected retailers will judge the preliminary round, which is open to all exhibitors that are featuring a new product, new ingredients or new labeling. This year, the judges will be selected for their knowledge of the category being judged and will judge only in that category, instead of being expected to evaluate hundreds of products in different categories. Since more than 400 products were entered last year, this could make the awards easier to narrow down, said Sandy Voss, New Hope?s trade show director.
?We?re selecting retailers who are specialists in each area, so it?s not so overwhelming,? said Voss.
The new green products category will be added to last year?s categories of food, personal care, supplements, packaging and innovation.
After the judges have narrowed down the entries to the top five in each category, the voting will be opened to all retailer attendees on Saturday and Sunday in booth 4241 in Hall A. At 1 p.m. Sunday, voting will close, and winners will be announced at 3 p.m.

Another way to save money is to register free for Expo by Sept. 17 at www.expoeast.com/attendee/register.cfm. After Sept. 17, registration is $25, and beginning Oct. 2, the fee goes up to $55.
