Plug in, eat up at Expo’s Retail Resource Center

Located in Hall A on the show floor, the Retail Resource Center is an office away from the store for retailers. With Internet access, telephones and tea, the RRC is a place to break away from the show floor to take care of business. It’s also the locale of a “Learning From One Another” luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 16 and 17, and a tea from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18. For another type of fuel, don’t miss the “IndyHour,” an independent retailers’ networking happy hour from 5 to 6 p.m. on Friday.

Organic Harvest Festival

Expo will kick off with the Organic Harvest Festival from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15. Stroll the Seaport World Trade Center grounds while enjoying organic food and beverages. The outdoor venue will provide a festive atmosphere, and live music will be offered by BuzzUniverse, an original and eclectic blend of rock, jazz and world grooves.

The Spirit of Organic Awards will also be presented at the festival. “This is our opportunity to recognize the hard work and contribution of some really passionate, smart and dedicated individuals,” says Jylle Lardaro, New Hope Natural Media’s director of organic alliances. Since 2001, New Hope has given this award to members of the organic community who demonstrate commitment, innovation, entrepreneurship, passion for organics and a determination to change the way we farm, eat and live. The Organic Harvest Festival is a celebration of the community spirit of organics, and a percentage of the evening’s proceeds will benefit the Organic Farming Research Foundation.

Get down with Galactic!

New Orleans roots band Galactic will rock it in the Roxy ballroom, from 9 p.m. to midnight Thursday, Oct. 16. Energetic and funky, Galactic weaves modern and retro style in a jazz-funk-rock fusion. Over the years, the band’s sound has evolved from organic New Orleans funk to include a more modern style, with elements of hip hop, electronica and jazz. This concert is free to all Expo participants.
