Natural Products Association hires Devon Powell to lead new growth initiatives

The Natural Products Association (NPA), the nation’s leading nonprofit trade organization dedicated to the natural products industry, today announced that Devon Powell will join as its new Senior Vice President of Member Services and Chief Operating Officer (COO) on June 2.

Powell is a seasoned nonprofit association manager with extensive experience in industries directly related to natural products. For the last eight years, he has served as COO for the American Herbal Products Association. For the last six years, he has also concurrently served as executive director of the International Aloe Science Council, a nonprofit trade association representing the aloe vera industry, and has held multiple positions in sales, business development and marketing.

“Serving NPA members and growing our organization is one of my top priorities for this association, and Devon is the perfect fit to help us as we lead this promising growth period,” said NPA CEO Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D. “This is the first of several major initiatives we are planning in order to expand membership and enrich the NPA value proposition. With Devon on board, we look forward to further advancing NPA’s mission of securing quality natural products for all, while moving the industry onward and upward.”

Powell is the second major new hire for NPA in the past several weeks, following the very high-profile announcement of Dr. Fabricant’s return to the association from the Food and Drug Administration, marking a distinct new phase of NPA leadership.

NPA is the largest and oldest organization representing the entire natural products industry, with more than 2,000 members in all 50 states and internationally, accounting for more than 10,000 retail, manufacturing, wholesale, and distribution locations of natural products, including foods, dietary supplements, and health/beauty aids.

“I’m thrilled to be joining NPA at a time of growth for the industry, especially as the association prepares to embark on fresh and compelling initiatives that will benefit all natural products industry stakeholders and consumers,” Powell said. “I’m eagerly looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to NPA’s evolution, and am excited to be involved in enhancing the association’s role within the industry.”
