20th annual NutrAward voting begins now

The 20th annual NutrAward will be bestowed to the best-in-class nutritional bioactive as well as finished product featuring a functional ingredient at Natural Products Expo West and Engredea on Thursday, March 8.

More than 60 companies submitted entries to this year’s competition. A juried panel of veteran industry insiders helped whittle the class down to three finalists.

Now you, yes you, can have your say in who will take home the 2018 NutrAward—one of the nutrition industry’s longest-running award competitions.

Visit the NutrAward voting page and cast your ballot.

Benchmarks for the best ingredient category include scientific merit, efficacy, market potential, safety, innovation and ability to increase market credibility. The three finalists for the best functional ingredient include:

OmniActive’s Lutemax 2020. This trio of macular carotenoids enjoys a recent human clinical trial demonstrating that its lutein, zeaxanthin and meso-zeaxanthin is able to filter the harmful blue light rays emanating from digital devices that causes eye strain, headaches, even sleep disturbances.

Sibelius Sage. The effect of a single dose of this ingredient on various aspects of cognition has been confirmed in clinical trials conducted with a cohort of healthy seniors.

Xsto Solutions Cuvitus. Stand aside, curcumin. Here’s another ingredient aimed at the performance market with an ability to maintain a healthy inflammation response.

For the best finished product featuring a functional ingredient, voting considerations include whether it’s a viable product, in an emerging category, a creative product concept, a distinct health application, unique packaging and matchless marketing. The three finalists are:

Amare Global’s The FundaMentals Pack. A flagship mental wellness empowerment system formulated to support microbiome balance and the gut-brain axis.

Limited Labs’ Ketone.io. Ketones are on-trend, and the format and delivery of this science-forward product will appeal to a group of users who can read between the lines.

Wonder Fuel’s Turmeric Golden Milk. Sumptuous drink brings Ayurveda and curcumin home in a warm way.

The awards presentation will be at the Hilton Sunset Deck, from 5:30-7:00pm on Thursday, March 8, at Natural Products Expo West and Engredea. See you there!
