Farmers take out millions in loans to raise chickens for big-box retailers

Agreements like the ones Costco is seeking with Nebraska chicken farmers—where producers sign multi-million dollar deals to raise pork and poultry for large retailers—are becoming increasingly common. But they also require significant investment from the farmers; they have to acquire enough land and build chicken barns. GSK's new CEO aims to divest sports nutrition brand: sources

Sources say Emma Walmsley has plans to divest the MaxiNutrition brand, which makes protein bars, drinks and powders. GSK bought the business in 2010 to complement GSK's Lucozade sports drink, but it sold that brand in 2013. Read more at Reuters...

Should you eat REAL certified food?  

You may have seen food and beverage products, as well as food establishments, labeled as REAL—which stands for responsible, epicurean, agricultural and leadership. The nonprofit United States Healthful Food Council launched the certification earlier this year to recognize businesses that are committed to providing healthy food options and sourcing sustainable ingredients.
