Specialty bulk-ingredient and ready-made nutraceutical company Nutraceuticals International announced the opening of its new U.S. office in Elwood Park, N.J.

Sambazon, a San Clemente, Calif.-based a?ai product marketer, was ranked No. 186 on Inc. magazine's 2007 list of the 500 fastest-growing companies in the United States. Portland, Maine-based Good Clean Food has secured a round of funding close to $1 million to develop new product lines, increase distribution and open an expanded kitchen and production facility. The Small Enter?prise Growth Fund of Maine led the funding round.

Brevard, N.C.-based Gaia Herbs received the Corporation of the Year 2007 award at the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians' annual conference in Palm Springs, Calif., in August. It was the first time in the award's seven-year history that it has been presented to an herbal supplements manufacturer.

Ojai, Calif.-based nonprofit Vitamin Relief USA announced the launch of Nourish America, a new umbrella organization to expand its humanitarian services. The nonprofit also received its second consecutive four-star rating for efficient financial management and growth from Charity Navigator, which evaluates charities to assess financial health. Only 14 percent of charities rated by Charity Navigator have received at least two consecutive four-star evaluations, said the company's president.

Lynden, Wash.-based supplements manufacturer Flora donated more than 500,000 servings of the company's nutritional supplements and bone-health products to the nonprofit Vitamin Angels programs in Mexico, Central America and Belize. The donation was the largest product gift Vitamin Angels has ever received, Flora said.

Researchers from Ghent, N.Y.-based Bioforce AG presented new echinacea research at the 55th International Congress & Annual Meeting of the Society for Medicinal Plant Research in Graz, Austria in September.

Marketing experts Debby Swoboda and Linda O'Hara announced the launch of, a marketing and education company serving independent natural products retailers, and the HER Business Booster Library, a new concept in turnkey promotion and staff education. The new company will be launched at the first HER Workshop and Party at the Southeast Natural Products Association Expo in Orlando on Friday, Nov. 30.
