Donald Blaine, vice president of sales for Kyowa Hakko USA, died Feb. 12 in Encinitas, Calif. He was 53. Blaine worked for more than 25 years in the natural products industry, including the dietary supplement, nutraceuticals, pharmaceutical, biotech and nutrition sectors.
Blaine worked for New York-based Kyowa Hakko USA for 10 years in its West Coast office in Aliso Viejo, Calif. The company manufactures nutraceuticals, functional foods and pharmaceuticals.
Colleagues say Blaine was known for his attention to relationships between manufacturers, suppliers and customers.
Prior to working for Kyowa Hakko, Blaine was a corporate officer and sales and marketing manager with Tanabe USA in San Diego.
Blaine is survived by his mother, Charmaine; sister, Susan Cole; and brother, Terry. The family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
