Expo East is Coming: Is the 13th Annual Socially Responsible Business Awards Breakfast on Your Calendar?

BALTIMORE, MD (August 23, 2007) – The winners of the prestigious annual award are already chosen but you’ll need to wait until Friday, September 28, 2007, to find out who they are. The winners of the 13th annual Socially Responsible Business Awards (SRBA) will be announced at the free breakfast to be held at the Baltimore Convention Center, Room 309, from 8:00 to 9:30 AM, held during Natural Products Expo East. All industry members are welcome.

SRBA-award recipients demonstrate exceptional track records in ethics, accountability, governance, employment practices, business relationships, financial return, products and services, community involvement and environmental protection and the 2007 winners are no exception.

This year’s keynote speaker is industry legend Steve Demos. The company he co-founded, White Wave Foods Co., is in a class of its own. From its beginnings as a small regional tofu manufacturer to the company that put soy milk in mainstream grocery stores nationwide, White Wave has maintained its deeply entrenched ideals of social responsibility. Steve’s presentation, as has become usual for this event’s keynote, will be engaging, enlightening, and thought-provoking.

Each year the attendees say how inspired and motivated they were by the breakfast. Joining with friends and colleagues to remember the values and core beliefs that made this industry special is a wonderful way to begin another fast-paced day on the show floor.

SRBA is sponsored annually by Golden Temple Bakery, manufacturer of Peace Cereals, and the Yogi Tea Company, which serve as main sponsors of the event. Other 2007 sponsors include: UNFI, Discovery-Planet Green, White Wave, Horizon Organic, Christie Communications, Woodstock Farms, Guayaki, Steaz, New Hope Natural Media, Innercontinental.Org, The Shelton Group PR, Innovision Health Media, and John Beske Communications.

The SRBA is managed by the volunteer staff of Gurudahn Singh Khalsa (Golden Temple), Jill Ettinger (Sunfood Nutrition), Frank Lampe (Innovision Health Media) and Suzanne Shelton (Shelton Group PR).
