The International Alliance of Dietary/Food Supplement Associations (IADSA) has elected a new chairman at its annual general meeting recently held in Verona, Italy.
Byron Johnson, former chairman of the US Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), was elected chair at IADSA’s 10th annual meeting held on 23-24 April.
Mr Johnson highlighted the excellent work of former Chair Randy Dennin and vice chair Bruce Dennison over the past 10 years, and welcomed their continued involvement in IADSA’s future activities and strategy.
He said: “Over the years I have seen how effective the advocacy and communication techniques of IADSA can be and I am glad that I have been able to play a part in some of IADSA’s many successes. We will continue to build on our scientific network to bring our messages to more regulators and decision makers across the world.”
Peter Van Doorn, nominated by European trade organisation EHPM, was elected Vice-Chair, and Ric Hobby, nominated by the UK Council for Responsible Nutrition, was elected Treasurer.
IADSA’s next annual meeting will be held in Vancouver, Canada on 30-31 March 2009.
IADSA is the voice of the worldwide dietary supplement manufacturing industry and an accredited international non-governmental organization (INGO) with a seat at the table of the main international regulatory bodies.
IADSA has more than doubled in size since its creation in 1998, representing more than 50 trade associations and over 20,000 companies.
