Distribution deal for Mexico
BI Nutraceuticals has chosen as its exclusive distributor in Mexico Nutra-seutica International. Nutraseutica will offer BI's complete library of more than 700 ingredients. Headquartered in Guadalajara, Nutraseutica is a distributor of bulk commodities, spices, herbs, grains, cereal-quality oils and ingredients for use in foods and cosmetics throughout Mexico, Central America and South America.

Reversitall patent application
Collagen Nutraceuticals has filed for patent protection for the manufacturing method and the use of its latest innovation, Reversitall, an extract from a blend of red wine, Muscadine grapes, grape cluster stems and grape vine. The extract contains significant levels of a compound known as stilbenes. Grapevine-derived stilbenes is Trans-Resveratrol (3, 5, 4 —trihydroxystilbene; 1), Trans-e-Viniferin, and Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins. These polyphenol compounds have the ability to inhibit viral and inflammatory diseases, improve cardiovascular health, and increase stress resistance.

Frost & Sullivan awards Denomega
Denomega Nutritional Oils received the 'Niche company of the year in Omega-3' award from Frost & Sullivan. The award recognizes outstanding best-practice performance in the food and beverage market for omega-3s. Denomega is expanding its capacity with a new refinery currently under construction in Ålesund, Norway. The plant will be one of the world's largest plants dedicated to omega-3s.

CinSulin distribution agreement
AM Todd Botanical Therapeutics of Utah has signed a distribution agreement with Tang-An Medical for the distribution of CinSulin, the only patented water extract of cinnamon for maintaining healthy blood-glucose levels. Tang-An Medical of Beijing, China, holds the US patent on CinSulin. The company's principal business is diabetes-lifestyle management.

Strategic alliance agreement
Kyowa Hakko Kogyo, the parent company of Kyowa Hakko USA; Kirin Pharma; and Kirin Holdings have entered into a strategic alliance agreement. In April, Kirin Pharma will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Kyowa Hakko through the Share Exchange between Kyowa Hakko and Kirin Pharma, and Kyowa Hakko will become a consolidated subsidiary of Kirin Holdings. The merger of Kyowa Hakko and Kirin Pharma will be finalized in October, with Kyowa Hakko as the surviving company. The new company name will be Kyowa Hakko Kirin.

Anniversary for KGK Synergize
KGK Synergize recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. Founded by three scientists associated with the Centre for Human Nutrition at the University of Western Ontario, the company today conducts approximately 20 clinical studies simultaneously, at various stages in the clinical process. KGK has received both ISO 9001:2000 and GLP certifications, allowing an expansion of laboratory services to include GLP toxicity studies required for regulatory submissions.

New CEO at Solbar
Shaul Shelach has been appointed CEO of Solbar, Israel, by the company's new owners. Shelach replaces Uri Eshel who returned to serve as CEO during the period of Solbar's reorganization in 2006-2007. Shelach brings a wealth of management experience from the Israeli food company Elite-Straus as well as Unilever.
