Natural product industry movers & shakers — November 2016

Steven Spinner, CEO of United Natural Foods Inc., was appointed to chairman of the company's board of directors. He will succeed Michael S. Funk, the cofounder, former chief executive officer and current chairman of UNFI, who will remain a director. 

Carnivore Meat Company, a private label provider of freeze-dried pet food and pet treats, appointed Bill Grau as vice president of operations. 

Noted international herbal expert Dr. Alexander Panossian has joined the EuroPharma team as a consultant, and research and science director for product development. He is an advisory board member of the American Botanical Council and also the editor-in-chief of Phytomedicine, International Journal of Phytopharmacology, and Phytotherapy (Elsevier, Germany).

Alkemist Labs founder Dr. Sidney Sudberg was appointed for a three-year term as chair of the AOAC Committee on Statistics. AOAC is a not-for-profit association and voluntary consensus standards developing organization founded in 1884.

As Highland Laboratories CEO Robert Ugianskis celebrates one year in his position, the company recognizes a 133 percent increase in net earnings year-over-year. In the next year, the contract and private label vitamin and supplement manufacturer plans to invest heavily in capital and people.
