For the third year in a row, the National Association for Business Resources (NABR) has recognized NOW Foods as one of Chicago’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For. This annual competition honors companies that recognize employees as their greatest asset. Considering the far-reaching scope and volume of businesses operating in the greater Chicago area, this is a prestigious honor that attests to what a unique, progressive and employee-first company NOW Foods truly is.
According to the NABR, the 101 winning companies each “work with imagination and conviction to create organizational value and business results through their policies and ‘Best Practices in Human Resource’ management.” The selection, recognition and awarding of the 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For allows businesses to showcase these policies and best practices, while demonstrating why the company is an excellent place for employees to work.
“I am very pleased that NOW is again named one of the 101 best and brightest companies to work for in Chicagoland,” said Al Powers, NOW Foods’ president. “This award recognizes that our employees are important stakeholders who are passionately engaged in achieving our mission to provide value in products and services that empower people to lead healthier lives. NOW is the leading brand of nutritional supplements sold in health food stores…and it is our employees who have made it possible.”
A comprehensive array of professional criteria is used to determine the companies worthy of being named among the 101 Best. This includes communication, community initiatives, compensation and benefits, diversity, multi-culturalism, employee education and development, employee engagement, commitment, recognition and retention, charitable and social involvement, recruitment and selection, and work-life balance.
Winners are selected by an independent market research company, which reviews an extensive amount of quantitative and qualitative data, as well as an independent panel of judges. As part of the process, employees at each nominated company are randomly selected to complete a confidential survey about their work environment. Carol Dunning, NOW’s Director of Human Resources said “It is very exciting to be a three-time winner of this award. This is confirmation that NOW cares about all aspects of their employees and is truly a great place to work.”
