Jeff LindSabinsa names new CEO
Sabinsa has appointed Jeff Lind as the company's chief executive officer, overseeing all operational aspects including supply-chain and purchasing management, as well as financial expenditures. Lind's more than 17 years of business experience includes leadership roles in sales and marketing, corporate finance, and supply-chain and risk management. Most recently, he served as the director of marketing and sales for a leading nutritional company.

Promotions at Kenko/Soft Gel
Ron Udell has been promoted to president and CEO of Kenko International, Inc., and Steve Holtby has been promoted to president of Soft Gel Technologies, Inc.??Moving from his role as national sales director for Soft Gel Technologies, Inc. and vice president of sales of OptiPure, Holtby will now lead the soft gel manufacturing organization.

OTA re-elects board member
Matt McLean, founder and CEO of Uncle Matt's Organic, has been re-elected for a three-year term as a board member of the Organic Trade Association (OT). In addition, McLean was selected by the board to serve as vice president for the US for one year. Uncle Matt's Organic is a Florida-based, family-owned company offering a line of organic citrus juices and fresh produce. The OTA is the membership-based business association for organic agriculture and products in North America with 1,700 members.

Chinese firm taps US consultant
Michael "Mickey" Schuett, of Colorado-based GBMM Consulting, has been hired as a sales/marketing consultant for Jiaherb International, a Chinese company with offices in New Jersey. He will be selling the raw ingredients that Jiaherb will wholesale to companies in North and South America, and also aid in advertising and trade-show development. Jiaherb has developed more than 200 herbal extracts and has become one of the largest manufacturers and suppliers of botanical ingredients. For more information, visit

Draco Natural Products has hired Denise Engstrom as an account executive, based in the company's San Jose office. Her most recent food-industry experience was with Compton, California-based Fraley Foods USA. Draco offers more than 500 different extracts from herbal botanicals, fruits and vegetables.

Arthur RadcliffeCapsugel manager behind Vcaps Plus
Arthur Radcliffe, the new business-development manager for dietary supplements, Americas region, is developing growth strategies for Capsugel. In addition to overseeing the upcoming launch of Vcaps Plus capsules, a plant-based capsule composed of HPMC, Radcliffe is working to build customer programmes and form strategic partnerships for new products and services. Since joining Capsugel in 1995, Radcliffe has received several company achievement awards for outstanding performance.

New appointment at Cyvex Nutrition
Rosalie Chi was appointed to the newly created position of marketing co-ordinator at Cyvex Nutrition of California. Chi, who graduated from the University of California with degrees in economics and sociology, is responsible for the co-ordination and implementation of marketing and branding initiatives. Cyvex most recently launched VitaTropic, a high-ORAC tropical extract of exotic fruits, including noni, açai, mangosteen and pomegranate.
