Vitamer Labs, a Lake Forest, Calif.-based vitamin and supplements producer, has hired Mark James as its Northern California regional account manager.

ABKIT Inc., a New York-based marketer of branded natural remedies and skin care products, announced that Christopher Lindstrom has joined the company as director of marketing.

Cindy Greene, president of the Little Rock, Ark.-based broker Newmarket Sales Associates, received the Arkansas Sierra Club?s Outstanding Environmental Business award. The 2005 Sierra Club Conservation Awards Banquet was held at the William J. Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock in mid-March.

GTC Nutrition, a business unit of Corn Products International Inc., announced that Barbara Homs has been named manager of marketing and customer service.

Kettle Cuisine Inc. of Chelsea, Mass., has named Kenneth Murray to the newly created position of vice president of sales and marketing; Denise Levesque its Northern New England territory manager; Lee Jackson its Southern New England territory manager; and Dennis Flynn its vice president of national business development.

Elan Nutrition hired Pam Lauroff, key account manager, to coordinate the company?s product development activities with designated accounts for new product launches.

Fytokem Products Inc., a Saskatoon, Saskatchewan-based producer of plant-based ingredients, announced that John Cross and Roger Francis have accepted appointments to the board of directors of the company. This will increase the number of directors to five.

Atkins Nutritionals announced that Neil Harrison has joined the company as chairman of the board and chief executive officer. Paul D. Wolff and Scott Kabak, the chairman/CEO and president, respectively, since 2000, will remain as members of the board of directors but will no longer serve in day-to-day operational roles. Mark Rodriguez, currently general manager, ANI North America, assumes the position of president of ANI, North America.

Natural Health Trends Corp., an international direct-sales company, has appointed William Wong as senior vice president of Greater China and Southeast Asia of its Lexxus division.

Hudson, N.Y.-based Bioforce USA appointed Pierce Siousatt vice president of retail relations, a new position for the firm.

Tree of Life, the St. Augustine, Fla.-based marketer and distributor of natural and specialty foods, appointed Jamie Moody to the position of regional president for Tree of Life/Gourmet Award Foods Canada.

The American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world?s largest general scientific society, has named Michael Jeffrey Balick, of The New York Botanical Garden, recipient of the 2004 International Scientific Cooperation Award. Balick was honored by AAAS for his efforts to promote scientific collaboration within the field of ethnobotanyĆ¢€”the study of the relationship between plants and people across cultures.

Health Sciences Group, provider of nutritional products derived from natural sources, appointed Sid L. Anderson to its board of directors. As an independent board member, Anderson will also serve on the audit committee.

Aloecorp, a supplier of bioactive Aloe vera raw materials, appointed Walt C. Jones Sr. to the position of vice president of sales and marketing.

M&R Strategic Services, a Washington, D.C.-based public affairs firm, has hired former Organic Trade Association Fiber Council Coordinator Sandra Marquardt as senior consultant in its communications department.

Bio-One Corp. has appointed Frank M. Clark as interim chief executive officer. Clark will also continue to serve as chairman of the board. The company also announced that David G. Collins, C.P.A., chairman of the audit committee, would serve as interim chief financial officer.

Zila Inc., a manufacturer of preventive health care technologies and products, has appointed Gary V. Klinefelter as vice president and general counsel.

GTC Nutrition, a business unit of Corn Products International Inc., named Ken Bender as national account manager, dietary supplements. Bender was promoted to this newly created position after serving as a technical sales agent for the company in the western United States.

GNC Corp. announced the appointment of Robert Homler to the position of executive vice president and chief merchandising officer.

Herbalife Ltd. has appointed three new members to its board of directors: Leroy T. Barnes Jr., Richard Bermingham and Peter Maslen. These appointees will join the nine current members of the board, which is chaired by Peter Castleman, president of Whitney & Co. LLC.

Levlad/Nature?s Gate, a manufacturer of natural personal care products, announced the appointment of Paddy Spence as president. Spence will be responsible for the company?s branded and private label businesses. He will also serve as a member of the board of directors for Natural Products Group LLC, the holding company for Levlad and Arbonne International. Natural Products Group also has promoted Jonathan Price to international and alternative sales manager. He previously held the position of specialty sales manager.

Monica Nassif, owner of Minneapolis-based green cleaning companies Mrs. Meyer?s Clean Day and Caldrea, was honored as woman entrepreneur of the year at the 10th annual Good Housekeeping Good Buy Awards in January.

Burlington, Vt.-based Seventh Generation, maker of nontoxic and environmentally preferable household products, created five new jobs at its headquarters. Nancy Stoddard has become director of information technology; Louis Chapdelaine, director of contract manufacturing; Penny Tudor, director of quality assurance; Julie Atwood, senior sales and marketing financial analyst; and Tom Piper, marketing director.

Theramedix, a San Francisco-based provider of pharmaceutical grade enzymes, has hired Kalyna Hanover as director of marketing. The company, which is a subsidiary of nutraceutical manufacturer Enzymedica, has also hired Jaime Gagliardi as its Northern California account executive and enzyme consultant.

Michael Guo has joined Honson Industries Inc., a raw material supplier based in Markham, Ontario, as an account manager for the North American region.
