NutraCea, an El Dorado Hills, Calif., nutraceuticals research and development company, appointed Dr. Ernie Bodai as the company?s new medical director. Bodai is currently the director of Breast Surgical Services in Sacramento, Calif., and is a medical adviser and spokesman for The Liv Kit, a tool to fight against breast cancer. He is the founder and president of Cure Breast Cancer Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to education, support and outreach, and a clinical professor of surgery at the University of California at Davis.
Traditional Medicinals of Sebastopol, Calif., promoted Janine Levijarvi to vice president of human resources. Levijarvi is a longtime natural foods enthusiast who co-managed health and specialty food stores before joining Traditional Medicinals.
Vancouver, Wash.-based Cardinal Nutrition, manufacturer of methylsulfonylmethane, hired Wayne A. McCune as its new director of sales. McCune brings to the position 20 years of sales and marketing experience in the nutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals industries and will manage all sales and service initiatives.
San Leandro, Calif.-based nSpired Natural Foods promoted Patrick Lee to president. Lee served as nSpired?s vice president of sales for the past two years. The company?s sales team will now be led by Marty Hagge.
V-Net Beverage Inc. of Blue Island, Ill., appointed Robert Corr, founder of Ginseng Rush Beverage Co., as president of V-Net Beverage. Corr brings to the position 25 years of specialty beverage experience, including the introduction of Ginseng Rush.
IZZE Beverage Co., of Boulder, Colo., has appointed a national sales team. Terry Casey, formerly of Leading Brands, Vitamin Water and SoBe, will lead sales and distributor relations for IZZE in the Midwest region. Tim Larsen, also most recently with Leading Brands, Vitamin Water and SoBe, will lead sales and distributor relations in the Pacific region. Marty Jay Zirofsky, formerly with Leading Brands, AriZona, SoBe, Mistic, Pepsi and Coca-Cola, will manage sales and distributor relations on the East Coast.
Botanical Laboratories Inc., Ferndale, Wash.-based manufacturer of dietary supplements and herbal and homeopathic products, hired Peter Burkland as director of operations. Burkland has extensive background in the pharmaceutical industry and in business consulting. As director of operations, Burkland will be responsible for the functional areas of production, lab compounding and distribution.
The board of directors of the International Aloe Science Council named Walt C. Jones of Carrington Laboratories Inc. vice president of the board. Jones has been involved in the nutraceuticals industry for more than 25 years and will assume the role of president when the current president?s term ends in late 2004.
