Comax Flavors announces new hire
Comax Flavors has hired Jake Cohen to manage new business development, market research, account management and account service. Prior to joining Comax, Cohen was a digital media specialist for Context Web in New York City; prior to that, he was the advertising sales director for PSP Sports. Cohen is a graduate of the University of Arizona in Tucson. Comax Flavors is a family-run company that specializes in flavor and aroma chemical technologies.

Business development manager for Asia
Ocean Spray Ingredient Technology Group has appointed a new business development manager for Asia, Anthony Garreffi. He is responsible for building the market for cranberry ingredients in the region. He has experience leading marketing campaigns across eight countries in Asia. Garreffi has worked in Japan for more than 16 years; most recently, he was based in Osaka as the director of Lenox Tools and succeeded in driving new business in the region.

Pharma vet takes on new leadership role
William Spengler has taken the helm as president of ChromaDex Corp., a developer of phytochemical and botanical reference standards. Spengler has held leadership roles in pharmaceutical companies such as Guilford Pharmaceuticals, MGI Pharma and Bristol-Myers Squibb, as well as Endo Pharmaceuticals, where he most recently served as director. Spengler holds a bachelor's degree  in economics from Yale University and an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business.

Technical service director promoted
Kevin Lester has been promoted to director of technical service for the food, pharmaceutical and personal-care group at the Grain Processing Corp of Iowa. Lester joined the company in 1998 in the quality assurance group. Grain Processing Corp is a major manufacturer of grain neutral spirits, food and pharmaceutical starches, industrial starches, maltodextrins and corn syrup solids, dietary fibers, specialty products and animal nutritional ingredients. 

Retail account exec hired
National Enzyme Co. has named Bill Stuart as account executive for the retail natural health market channel. Stuart is a graduate of Drury University. His background includes 17 years of sales and management experience. Since 1932, National Enzyme Co. has been a leader in nutritional enzyme technology, providing manufacturers and distributors with comprehensive dietary-supplements services while adhering to strict NSF- and TGA-certified GMPs.

New product development manager
Hired to focus on new product initiatives, Sid Hulse has joined P.L. Thomas as new product development manager. Hulse has worked more than 30 years in the human- and animal-nutrition arena. He has a bachelor's degree in dairy science and an MBA from Ohio State University. Hulse has worked in sales and management at Valensa International, Zila Nutraceuticals, Archer Daniels Midland, Degussa International and American Cyanamid.
