Embria exec joins advisory board

Stuart Reeves, Ph.D., director of research and development for Embria Health Sciences, has been appointed to the external advisory board of the Nutrition and Wellness Research Center at Iowa State University. During his three-year term, Reeves will assist with strategic-planning activities. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Imperial College, London, and a doctorate from Kings College, London, followed by post-doctoral studies at Cornell University in New York. Embria is best known for its flagship immunity ingredient EpiCor.

Cyvex hires director of business development 

Cyvex Nutrition has appointed Katherine Bond as its director of business development. Bond will help oversee all of Cyvex’s sales and marketing channels, determine growth opportunities and implement appropriate strategies.  Prior to joining Cyvex Nutrition, Bond worked in the pharmaceutical industry in sales. Her six years of experience in pharmaceutical sales and marketing includes territory management posts at Sepracor Pharmaceuticals and ICN Pharmaceuticals. She holds a juris doctorate from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of San Diego. 

EPAX exec joins GOED board of directors

Long-time EPAX executive and omega-3 expert Baldur Hjaltason has been named the new chairman of the Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3 board of directors.

Hjaltason has more than two decades of experience in the omega-3 industry and is considered one of the top experts on trends and science in the category. Overseeing all B2B sales for EPAX AS in North America, Japan and China, Hjaltason also manages strategic business development for EPAX. He holds a degree in chemistry from University of Iceland and conducted post-research work at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan.

Soft Gel appoints regional sales manager

Soft Gel Technologies of Los Angeles has named Rob Gines as its new regional sales manager, based out of the company’s northern Utah sales office. Gines has been working as the vice president of a specialized medical equipment company. Gines studied communications at Utah State University; he enjoys spending time with his family and is an avid skier. He is a member of the Beaver Mountain Ski Patrol and National Ski Patrol. Soft Gel is a leading contract manufacturer providing specialty soft gelatin encapsulation capabilities exclusively to the dietary supplements industry.

BioExx names new board member

BioExx Specialty Proteins has appointed Henry Linsert Jr. to its board of directors. Linsert, who is based near Washington, D.C., founded Columbia Biosciences Corporation in 2007 to develop new uses for algal fluorescent proteins. Before that Linsert worked at Martek Biosciences.
